Health First Europe (HFE) is running a pan-European survey to gain a greater understanding of the level of implementation of the WHO Global guidelines for the prevention of surgical site infection (SSI) in Europe.
HFE is an alliance of patients, doctors, nurses, hospitals, academics, experts and industry who advocate at the European level for patient equitable access to modern, innovative and reliable medical innovation and make sure that innovation in healthcare is regarded as a vital investment in the future of Europe. Please check the website to learn more about the projects.
In the last 14 years, HFE has worked to bring patient safety and quality of care in the European Union political dabate. We have been proactively involved in European discussions on the Council Recommendation of 9 June 2009 on patient safety, including the prevention and control of healthcare associated infections, and together with the European Parliament we have enriched the AMR debate with our approach “preventing infections is the best way to treat infections”
[Please read HFE White Paper on rapid diagnostic technologies to tackle AMR and HFE Recommendations on AMR and healthcare-associated infections to improve patient safety].
This survey aims to assess the current level of application of the WHO guidelines in Europe and address the disparities between evidence and practice in the prevention of surgical infection. The questionnaire is completely anonymous and run through the platform Survey Monkey. It will take no more than 10 minutes and no personal question will be asked.
The results of the survey will be collected in a Report that will be used to advocate policymakers of the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union, to advance concrete actions designed to significantly enhance patient safety and quality of care for all citizens among European countries.
